Straightening teeth that also supports your whole-body health
Most people think of orthodontic treatment as cosmetic, a way to close a gap or align front teeth before photos. At My Dear Dentist, we think about it differently. Montrose Invisalign isn’t just about appearance. For many patients, correcting crowding, crossbite, or narrow arches also improves airway function, reduces jaw tension, and contributes to better sleep.
Drs. Nour Amin and Mustafa Shinta offer Invisalign clear aligner therapy as part of their whole-body approach to dental care in Montrose. If straightening your teeth could also improve how you breathe, sleep, or manage TMJ discomfort, that’s a conversation worth having.
What clear aligners can address
Crowding
When teeth don’t have enough room to sit properly, they shift and overlap. Invisalign moves teeth gradually into alignment, and in some cases, can be used alongside expansive aligner techniques that create more room in the arch rather than extracting teeth.
Spacing and Gaps
Gaps between teeth accumulate plaque, make cleaning harder, and can shift over time. Invisalign closes those spaces gradually, restoring a more uniform bite and a more even smile.
Crossbite and Overbite
Malocclusions affect more than aesthetics. A crossbite or significant overbite can contribute to jaw tension, uneven wear on tooth surfaces, and, in some cases, airway restrictions during sleep. Correcting bite issues through clear aligner therapy can reduce strain on the jaw and improve function.
Arch Narrowing and Expansion
For patients whose dental arches are narrow, which can restrict the airway and contribute to breathing difficulties or crowding, expansive treatment approaches can create space more naturally than extraction-based alternatives. Dr. Amin and Dr. Shinta evaluate whether arch development is appropriate as part of your Invisalign assessment.
How Montrose Invisalign works at My Dear Dentist
- Consultation: We take digital scans of your teeth and review your medical history, airway, jaw function, and bite.
- Treatment planning: Using digital software, we map the movement of your teeth across each stage of treatment. You can see a projection of your expected result before anything starts.
- Your aligners: You receive a series of custom-fit clear aligner trays. Each set moves your teeth a small amount. You wear each set for about one to two weeks before advancing to the next.
- Check-ins: We see you periodically to review progress, answer questions, and make any refinements.
- Retention: Once treatment is complete, we fit you with a retainer to maintain your results long-term.
